i went to the woods to live deliberately,
to front the facts of life,
to see if i could not learn
what it had to teach,
that i should not die
and learn that i had not lived.
i went to the pond to breathe fresh air,
to amble about,
only to discover freedom's end,
penned between barbed wire and meshed nets
to see nature taught how men live,
to learn of its death - all
to preserve one man's words
